Community terms
Last updated 16 October 2026
These terms apply when you join and use the Scarred Society community, including scanning chips and writing chapters. The community is run by TPB Shop Ltd, trading as Scarred Society. Buying from our store is covered by the store terms of service.
Not a crisis service
The community is a place to share and support each other, but it is not medical advice or an emergency service. If you are struggling right now, call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, any time), text SHOUT to 85258, or call 999 in an emergency.
Joining
- You need to be 16 or over.
- One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on it.
How chips work
- Each chip has a secret QR code and its own number. Scanning it adds the chip to your profile.
- A chip has one holder at a time. When the next person scans it, it moves to them and you will be asked whether you passed it on.
- You can't take a chip straight back after passing it on, and there is a daily limit on scans.
- Please pass chips on in person and don't share photos of the QR code. If a chip is scanned without your say-so, tell us with "This wasn't me" and we can undo the scan.
- Chips can't be bought, sold or traded through the community.
Your chapters
- What you write stays yours. By posting it, you let us show it to the people you chose (Everyone, Chip holders or Just me) on the chip's page and in the community.
- Scarred Society admins can read every chapter, including private ones, to keep the community safe. See our privacy page for how that works.
- You can edit your chapter or change who can read it at any time.
Be kind
This is a community for people going through hard things. Please don't post anything that:
- bullies, threatens, shames or harasses anyone, or shares someone else's story without their consent;
- names or identifies other people without their permission;
- encourages self-harm, drinking or drug use;
- sells, advertises or spams;
- is hateful, sexual, illegal or breaks someone else's rights.
Moderation
Our admins and community admins may hide posts, undo scans, or suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. If something worries us about someone's safety, we may reach out to them privately. You can report anything that doesn't feel right.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep the community running and safe, but we provide it as it is and can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We are not responsible for what members post, though we act on reports. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. If the changes matter, we will tell you before they take effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions? Email info@thepeacockbrothers.co.uk.
